Alesis MIDIVERB Impulse Responses

$10+

These are high quality impulse responses captured from the original 1986 Alesis MIDIVERB at 96kHz floating point.

Equipment used

  • Original Alesis MIDIVERB
  • MOTU M2
  • NTI Minirator MR-Pro
  • NTI AL1
  • SuperCollider 3.12.2-rc1
  • Acoustics Julia Library

Meticulous Capture Process

The left and right channels gains where perfectly matched on the MOTU M2 using the Minirator Signal Generator. The levels where set to maximize the signal to noise to get the highest fidelity impulse responses. This device sums the left and right channel so the impulse response is only two channels as the MIDIVERB is not a true stereo (independent left and right Impulse responses).

History

The MIDIVERB was the first digital reverb to cost under $1000 (around $600 MSRP or $1650 in August 2022). Most people think the 80's digital reverb sound was defined by Lexicon ,but unless you where rich a Lexicon was outside of your price range. This is the sound of the common man's digital reverb. The MIDIVERB has no adjustable parameters and is merely a preset box.
